The universities and colleges provide two ways to pursue admission in degree courses, some of the college gives admission on an excellence basis and some give admission based on entrance exams. CUET
Candidates willing to pursue BCA by entering through CUET must know the syllabus and exam pattern before the exams to secure their seat in central universities. CUET BCA syllabus has three main subjects that check your performance to approve your admission to the BCA course.
Section I measures your language section II is domain-specific which will check your performance in the course-specific and section III is a general test. The CUET is accepted by many universities which provides a student to take admission to central universities in any part of the country. The qualification basis remains the same in all the central universities.
Section I consists of 50 questions where a candidate needs to attempt 40 questions. The syllabus for section I is discussed below. It includes the topics
- – Reading understanding where three types of passage are given factual, narrative, and literary.

- – Choosing the correct word
- – Synonyms and antonyms
- – Vocabulary
Section II has three subjects out of which students need to choose any of two. All the three subjects are discussed in detail below:
Mathematics: the section carries 50 questions out of which 40 are needed to attempt. here are the topics mentioned that come in the exam:
Section A
- unit 1: algebra
- unit 2: calculus
- unit 3: integration and its applications
- unit 4: differential equations
- unit 5: probability distributions
- unit 6: linear programming

- – unit 1: relations and functions

Section B2
- – unit 1: numbers, quantification, and numerical applications

Information practice/ computer science- consists of 50 questions out of which 15 mandatory questions include computer science and information practice and 35 questions out of which 25 are needed to be attempted. Topics are written below:
Section a
- – exception and fire handling in Python
- – database concepts
- – structured query language
- – computer networks
Section b1
- – exceptions and file handling
- – stack, queue, searching, sorting and understanding data
- – database concepts, SQL, and computer networks
- – database query using SQL
- – data handling using pandas I and ii
- – plotting data using matplotlib
- – introduction to computer networks, societal impacts, data communication, and security aspects
Physics– the section has 50 questions and everything remains the same as mathematics. Here is the list of the topics that need to be studied while preparing for the CUET.
– electrostatics, current electricity, magnetic effects of current and magnesium, electromagnetic induction and alternating currents, electromagnetic waves, optics, dual nature of matter and radiation, atoms and nuclei, and communication system.
Section 3 general test of 60 questions from which 50 are needed to attempt include general knowledge, current affairs, mental ability, numerical ability, reasoning, and logical and analytical reasoning.
The syllabus for all the mentioned exams is the same as CUET the only difference is about the cut-off, conduct mode, and further processing of different institutes.
SET-
Set or symbiosis entrance test is conducted for admission in symbiosis institutes. The dates of exams are announced on the official website of Symbiosis International. SET cut-off marks are announced once the result is declared, those candidates who meet the cutoff and register themselves in the course are called for selection rounds that include personal interaction and a written ability test. The syllabus is the same as mentioned above for the CUET but the set is done in computer-based mode. Symbiosis is completely a private university.
KIITEE CET-
Kalinga University of Industrial Technology conducts an entrance exam for admission to BCA. The syllabus for BCA is divided into four sections: mathematical ability, logical ability, verbal ability, and general knowledge. The number of questions in GK is 20, 40 in verbal ability, and 30 in mathematical and logical ability. The exam will be conducted in an online computer-based mode. It is recommended to the students check the previous year’s exam for a comprehensive idea of the pattern and must appear with ace preparation in the exam.
PESSAT-
PES University, Bangalore conducts the PES scholarship aptitude test as an entrance exam to admission to the BCA course. Students must have cleared the 10+2 board from a recognized institute. The student needs to register themselves and appear for the exam the result of the exam is declared within 3 days of the test. Students who meet the eligibility can proceed further with the admission process.
IPU CET-
IPU CET is conducted by the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University those who meet the requirements will be eligible to apply for a course in top colleges of Indraprastha University in Delhi NCR. students must have marks of more than 50% in aggregate and must pass in English. The exam is done in pen and paper mode with 4 marks for right and 1 mark for wrong answer. The exam centers are allotted 4-5 days before the exam where candidates need to appear with 2 photocopies of the admit card released on the official website of IP University. It’s a semi-government university but students are provided with a government degree on completion of the course.
CUCET-
CUCET is the exam conducted by Chandigarh University a private institute. Students must have 50% marks in aggregate to pursue a BCA course. Students need to register themselves on the official website for admission. Once the registration is done a few days later time is given to prepare the syllabus which is more or less the same as CUET. It is advised to the student to check for the exam syllabus and exam pattern before appearing for the test. Later on, the result is declared and qualified students need to apply for admission. The university provides excellent knowledge of the course and has many placements during the year.
MAKAUT CET-
the exam is conducted by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology. Candidates passing MAKAUT CET are eligible for the counseling process. The syllabus for MAKAUT CET is completely different from cuet as it consists of only general knowledge, logical reasoning, and numerical ability. Students need to appear on the official website to register themselves for the exam and preparation mock links are also given on the website. It’s a public state university.
NIMCET-
National Institute of Technology Masters of Computer Application Common Entrance Test or NIMCET is conducted by the institute for students to pursue a degree in BCA. The exam is conducted in online mode and is highly available in various cities of the country.
The eligibility criteria for NIMCET are the student must have secured at least 60% from the general category and 55% for the rest. The exam is conducted in online mode which covers the same syllabus as CUET and students who appeared for the exam are needed to match the cutoff for admission in nits. All the process from registration to admission is done in online mode on their official website.
