Staff Selection Commission (SSC) (Hindi: कर्मचारीचयनआयोग) is a Government organization that recruits staff for various posts in the various Ministries and Departments of the Government of India and in Subordinate Offices.

SSC broadly conducts two types of examinations.

Overview

The Examination will be conducted in three tiers as indicated below:

Tier-I – Written Preliminary Examination (Objective Multiple Choice Type) :   The written exam will consist of objective type papers of 2 hours for all and 2 hours 40 mins for visually handicapped.

Questions will be of Objective Type Multiple Choice, set in both Hindi and English in respect of Parts A, B and C. There will be negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer in Tier-I.

Tier-II – Written Examination (Objective Multiple Choice Type) :   Tier II exam is conducted over a period of two days.The written exam will consist of objective type papers of 2 hours for all and 2 hours 40 mins for visually handicapped.

NOTE: Quantitative Aptitude and English Comprehension are compulsory for all posts. Statistics is for those who are appearing in Statistical Investigator Gr.II and Compiler. General Studies is only for those candidates who apply for the post of Assistant Audit Officer. In Tier-II, there will be negative marking of 0.25 marks in English Language and Comprehension and 0.50 marks in Quantitative Aptitude and Statistics for each wrong answer.

Tier-III – Personality Test cum Interview / Computer Proficiency Test / Skill Test (wherever applicable) / Document Verification :   Candidates who obtain qualifying marks in the Written Examination prescribed by the Commission will only be called for the Skill Test. The Commission will fix the qualifying standards in the skill test for different categories of candidates. The candidates need to have data entry speed of 8000 key depressions per hour. The matter will have to be transcribed on computer only.
